25 April 2023 at 03:28 Elected trans person in Montana is refused to participate in debates For the second week in a row, a trans person who is a member of Montana’s Republican-dominated state assembly is refused to participate in debates. Zooey Zephyr, who is elected as a Democrat from the university town of Missoula in the conservative US state, was refused to speak after she said last week that the Republican elected officials would have blood on their hands if they ban gender-affirming health care for young transgender people. Republicans won’t give her back the right to speak until she apologizes. The meeting in the state assembly was halted for half an hour on Monday when supporters of Zephyr shouted slogans from the gallery and were then escorted out, some by force. Zephyr wanted to voice his opinion on a bill that would limit young people’s ability to change the names and pronouns they use at school, and require parental approval. (NTB)
