Eivor Evenrud may be a candidate for mayor of Oslo Ap – news Oslo og Viken – Local news, TV and radio

Can the recently resigned Rødt top Eivor Evenrud become the Labor Party’s mayoral candidate in next year’s local elections? The answer is that it is a possibility. Several central sources in Oslo Ap confirm to news that this is being seriously discussed internally. Evenrud himself is not dismissive. – But I hadn’t heard about this before news got in touch, she says. Out of Rødt after conflict Eivor Evenrud resigned from Rødt at the beginning of October. It happened after a long-term conflict in the party. On Wednesday, she told Aftenposten that she is considering running for the Labor Party or SV. – What I do know is that I do not feel finished in Oslo politics and want to continue in Oslo city council. I also know that standing for election again for Rødt is out of the question, she says to news. Felte city councilor Eivor Evenrud has been Rødt’s most prominent Oslo politician by far after party leader Bjørnar Moxnes was elected to the Storting. Last year, she became a national celebrity when she and Rødt secured a majority for no confidence in MDG councilor Lan Marie Berg. This led to the entire city council led by Raymond Johansen (Ap) resigning before it returned without Berg. He holds no grudge whatsoever. – I have worked well with Eivor and Rødt for seven years, says the city council leader to news on the phone from Buenos Aires. Here he participates in the C40 summit, where leaders from almost a hundred cities who work for climate-friendly solutions are present. – Very relevant for the list OPEN ARMS: Raymond Johansen hopes Eivor Evenrud chooses Ap. Photo: Anders Fehn – I have seen that she is considering her further political participation. I have great respect for that choice. – But a resource like Eivor will be welcomed with open arms, and I hope she chooses us, he says. He leaves a possible mayoral candidacy to the nomination committee to decide on. – But she should be very relevant for a place on the list, says Raymond Johansen. Lindboe’s dream opponent Eivor Evenrud confirms that she will talk to both SV and the Labor Party in the near future. She specifies that places and positions will not be decisive for her choice. And she repeats that a possible mayoral candidacy has not been in her thoughts. – On a general basis, there is also an assessment of whether such a position is compatible with being a single parent, says the 40-year-old. Other things count on the plus side. She makes no secret of the fact that the Conservative Party’s choice of mayoral candidate is an additional motivation should she be asked. As former chief executive of the National Association of Private Kindergartens, Anne Lindboe is something of a dream opponent for kindergarten teacher Evenrud. The agreement with the city council that prevented new private kindergartens from establishing themselves in Oslo is considered Rødt’s biggest victory under the red-green board. – Ensuring good quality and staffing in the kindergartens was what made me enter politics, she notes. – Respected Leader of Oslo Ap, Frode Jacobsen, is probably the person in the party who has worked most closely with Evenrud in Oslo City Hall. He was elected to the Storting last year. – She is a clever and respected politician. I hope she chooses the Labor Party. In that case, we will welcome her, but it is her choice anyway. Jacobsen emphasizes that questions about the nomination are for the nomination committee to answer. LEADS THE NOMINATION: Trine Lise Sundnes heads the nomination committee in Oslo Ap. Photo: Håkon Mosvol / NTB It is led by parliamentary representative and former LO leader Trine Lise Sundnes. She too warmly welcomes Evenrud as an Ap member. – As leader of the professional political committee in the Oslo Labor Party, I will be extra happy. – Her background and experience as a shop steward suits us very well, she says. Looking at new candidates But then there was this with the mayor’s job, then. In connection with the nomination in the Conservative Party, news wrote that no clear candidates stood out from the main opponent, the Labor Party. Trine Lise Sundnes then said that the committee would also look at new candidates beyond the established Ap candidates in Oslo City Hall. After that article was written, Raymond Johansen agreed to re-election as city council leader. This means that the mayoral candidate must be a woman. If there could be a breakaway from Rødt, Sundnes will not say anything about it. – What discussions we will have in the nomination committee should Eivor sign up, I ask for your understanding that the committee will take appropriate forums, she says. The committee presents the first draft of the electoral list on 16 November.
