There are so far no indications that Norwegians have been affected, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells NTB. A major rescue operation has been launched after a large avalanche occurred in the Trittkopf mountain, which is located in Zürs in the Alps in western Austria. A video suggested that ten people were taken by the avalanche, but eight of them have now been accounted for safely, a spokesperson for the police told DPA. Police are asking people who cannot make contact with anyone they know to have been in the area to contact them. – There have been reports of people who have been reported missing. There is ongoing police work to clarify this, said Herman Fercher of the tourist police in Zürs to NTB earlier on Sunday evening. (NTB)
