Driver declared dead after collision between car and motorbike in Sløverfjord tunnel on E10 in Hadsel – news Nordland

A foreign motorcycle rider lost his life today after a collision with a car in the Sløverfjord tunnel on the E10 in Hadsel municipality. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, the police in Nordland say. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration states that it will take time before the tunnel opens. They recommend motorists who are on the E10 in the area to stop and wait at a suitable place. The tunnel was quickly closed as a result of the accident and emergency services and the accident team from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have been sent to the scene. The police are working on notifying next of kin. The tour group and those involved in the accident are being taken care of by the local crisis team. The police carry out the necessary investigations at the scene. The sequence of events is still unclear. The tunnel will be closed for several hours. There have started to be long queues in connection with the accident on the E10. Photo: Jens Andre M. Birkeland Several accidents with motorbikes in the last week At the latest yesterday, another motorbike driver also lost his life in traffic in Nordland. The incident in Rana was the second traffic accident involving motorcycles in Nordland on Thursday. Earlier in the afternoon there was a collision between two motorbikes at Ømmervatnet in Vefsn. Earlier on Friday morning, a car and a motorbike were also involved in a traffic accident on the E10 at Fløya in Vågan municipality in Lofoten. Most often motorcyclists who die in traffic As of 3 June this year, 38 people had died in traffic since the beginning of the year. That is three more than at the same time last year. In May, ten people lost their lives on the roads, six of them motorcyclists. – It is a very dramatic and sad statistic. This is the first reaction of Jan Harry Svendsen from NAF MC when he is presented with the figures from Trygg Trafikk in an article in news earlier this month: It will take time to open the tunnel It will take time before the tunnel opens. This is an underwater tunnel, and it is only possible to detour by ferry. It is possible to take a ferry between Fiskebøl and Melbu. It is also possible to take a ferry between Svolvær and Skutvik, but there are very few departures here. The ferry connection Bodø – Moskenes can be an alternative, but here there is a long detour. It may therefore be a good alternative to wait, but d An ambulance helicopter was also sent to the scene of the accident earlier today. Photo: Jens Andre M.
