– Don’t know how long I lay there – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

Jessie Diggins opened strongly during the women’s 10 kilometers at Beitostølen on Saturday, but the American was unable to keep up the pace all the way to the finish line and ended up sixth. At Beitostølen, temperatures have been down to 20 degrees below zero in recent days, and it was around 15 degrees below zero during the women’s race. Diggins remained in the finish area for a long time after she crossed the finish line. The American had to be supported away from the target area and helped to put on warm, dry clothes by the support crew. With small steps, she walked the scant 30 meters to the American booth, where she was allowed to sit down and throw a blanket around herself. There one from the team shook her thighs, as she gradually came to the hooks. GET TO THE HOLES: Jessie Diggins, here from the race itself. Photo: Terje Pedersen / NTB – I don’t really know how long I lay there. I am really exhausted, cold and tired. I’m going to be OK, but I’m pretty exhausted, says Diggins to news a few minutes later. – I’ve been a bit tired this week, and when it’s cold, you need so much energy to keep warm, she continues. Diggins thanks the team for the help she received. – I feel very lucky to have such a good team around me, who can take care of me when I need help, she says. Karlsson: – It hurts. The race was won by Kerttu Niskanen, ahead of Anne Kjersti Kalvå and Frida Karlsson. The latter went straight into the warming tent after the finish, and did not take part in the flower ceremony after the race. – I got very cold when I started to feel it, says Karlsson to news, around 20 minutes after the finish line. It was also very cold at times during the Olympics in Beijing. Karlsson had a disappointing championship there. – In Beijing I didn’t feel anything, but it is cold. It’s not my favorite weather, she says. – How are the feelings now? – Now I know a lot more. It hurts, says Karlsson. TIRED: Frida Karlsson had to warm up after finishing. It was really nice to finally get on that podium, says Kalvå to news. – I’m really just very happy. It’s big for me to finally get on the podium. I have worked hard for it for many years, and the last year in particular has been tough in many ways, but also very rewarding. It’s cool to stand here and have got something back for it, says the 30-year-old. – Really annoyed me In the biting cold it was Frida Karlsson who started best, but the Swede had a tough time throughout the race. It went better with Kerttu Niskanen and Kalvå, and at the halfway mark only 1.1 seconds separated the two – in favor of Niskanen. In the last five kilometers it was Niskanen who went the fastest, but Kalvå moved into second place, 12.7 seconds behind Finnish Niskanen. Kalvå was 0.2 seconds behind a podium place in Ruka and 0.5 seconds away at Lillehammer, while at Beitostølen it held by a good margin. – It really annoyed me. I have tried to keep calm and wait for it to come, says Kalvå. Frida Karlsson finished third, 16.5 seconds behind. World Cup leader Tiril Udnes Weng was seventh, 38.2 seconds behind Niskanen.
