Dog on mountain ledge is rescued – news Sørlandet – Local news, TV and radio

– I could not understand why nothing was done. The dog would have died before morning, had we not intervened. I think it was the number before when we arrived. He was like slaughter, almost, says rescuer Idar Byremo to news. Despite clear warnings from the police against climbing the mountain shelf on their own, Byremo and a friend set out on a rescue operation in the dangerous area. – We found out at 11 o’clock last night, when it got so insanely cold, that we wanted to take some fuses with us and started walking up the slope where the dog was, says Idar Byremo to news. Photo: Aron Fosseli Mørkestøl / Tip – The barking is insanely close Towards the top, they began to whistle for the dog, which in the distance was barking black. – Then we whistled again, but heard nothing. So we walked and walked and walked and walked. Then they whistled again. Now the barking is insanely close, explains Byremo. The dog was under a shed with a large overhang. The terrain was the reason why rescuers were waiting to take action. The friends considered it differently. At the top, the snow was hard, according to Byremo, and the hold was therefore good. – We did not see it as anything dangerous. – Incredibly stiff and cold They took out the harness and secured themselves to a rock. Byremo forte saw his friend down towards the dog. – He brought a rope with a noose on it – and we got the dog to stick its head into that noose. It was not so easy to achieve it in any other way. According to Byremo, the dog was very friendly. – He could hardly walk. We had to carry it down the cliff. – Before we saved it, there was almost nothing but beeping in it. There was almost no sound in him. He was incredibly stiff and cold. I think it was probably just before him, yes… There wasn’t much left of him, says Idar rescuer Idar Byremo. Extinguished in the bedroom On the way back to the cabin, the friends take turns wrapping the cold dog in their jackets. – We were picked up when we came down. Then we took it to the cabin, gave it food and water – and it ate like crazy. Then afterwards it went out in the bedroom and is still there. A fundraiser was launched to finance a rescue operation on Wednesday. Almost half a million kroner was donated. Two helicopter companies were contacted and one person had agreed to be flown down to pick up the dog. Since the dog has already been taken down, the money will reportedly go to charity.
