We will contribute capital, land, power and much more to speed up private investment, says Vestre. The state becomes owner The state-owned company Siva enters the ownership side of the first construction stage of the battery factory in Arendal. It has a cost framework of NOK 480 million. The State is contributing over NOK 320 million. – The state participates with a 67 percent ownership stake. Several hundred million kroner. We are willing to stand up and it is urgent to get started. This is an international race, says the Minister of Business. In total, the factory has a cost frame of NOK 20 billion and consists of four construction stages. The factory is scheduled to be completed in 2028. By then it will have around 2,500 employees and a production capacity of 43 gigawatt hours. This corresponds to the need for at least 700,000 electric cars. – We are well underway with product development and expect to deliver the first battery cells for testing with customers in the coming months. The purpose of Battery Factory 1 is to show the market and customers that we can deliver quality on a large scale. We look forward to the start of construction in September, so that we can expand our operation over the next 15 months, says Tanem. The mayor celebrates The mayor of Arendal celebrates the state’s contribution. – We have said that there is a time before and a time after the establishment of Morrow. Now it’s happening. Now it will be left behind, says a smiling Arendal mayor, Robert Cornels Nordli. He believes this will have great significance for the whole of Southern Norway. – This is like having a birthday, getting Christmas presents and a New Year’s Eve holiday at the same time.
