10 November 2022 at 02:19 Amnesty: Deportation of Ukrainians may be war crimes Russia has probably committed crimes against humanity in Ukraine when they have relocated Ukrainians, writes Amnesty in a new report. According to Amnesty, civilians were moved from occupied areas further into Russian-controlled areas or to Russia, and children were often separated from their parents, in violation of international law. Amnesty has interviewed 88 people, most of them civilians from Mariupol, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya. They also talk about ill-treatment and torture. The report is the most comprehensive on the Russian invasion of Ukraine since Amnesty’s previous report, which was heavily criticized for accusing Ukraine of putting civilians at risk by setting up military bases near schools and hospitals.
