It was really nice to finally get on that podium, says Kalvå to news. In the bitter cold, it was Frida Karlsson who started best, but the Swede had a tough time throughout the race. It went better with Kerttu Niskanen and Kalvå, and at the halfway point only 1.1 seconds separated the two – in favor of Niskanen. In the last five kilometers it was Niskanen who went the fastest, but Kalvå moved into second place, 12.7 seconds behind Finnish Niskanen. Kalvå was 0.2 seconds behind a podium place in Ruka and 0.5 seconds away at Lillehammer, while at Beitostølen it held by a good margin. – It really annoyed me. I have tried to keep calm and wait for it to come, says Kalvå. Frida Karlsson finished third, 16.5 seconds behind. World Cup leader Tiril Udnes Weng was seventh, 38.2 seconds behind Niskanen.
