This is according to a new opinion poll by Ipsos for the Reuters news agency. Among Republicans, 58 percent say they want Trump as the party’s presidential candidate in 2024. Only 21 percent want Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. 40 percent of Republicans polled say the trial against Trump makes them more likely to vote for him in next year’s presidential election. Only 12 percent say the trial makes it less likely.
