– If Trond Giske answers yes to whether he wants a seat in the Storting, then it is also likely that he will have a majority in the representative council of the Trondheim Labor Party. That’s what political editor in Adresseavisen, Siv Sandvik, says ahead of the decisive meeting on Thursday. At the meeting at 6pm tonight, they will choose who they want in the Storting from Ap in the constituency Sør-Trøndelag. – The members must have their say and ultimately decide what this will look like for the Trondheim Labor Party. This is according to the leader of Trondheim Ap, Pål Sture Nilsen, the evening before the important meeting. He does not want to reveal anything about who wants to run for the Storting from Trondheim Ap. But much of the excitement is linked to whether Trond Giske will be one of them. – He has good chances. Precisely because he has built up a local team where one of the most important issues for the members there is to get Giske into the Storting, adds Sandvik. Chaotic commotion In February, during the annual meeting of Trondheim Ap, the incumbent leader had to resign and internal unrest came to light and onto the rostrum. And the unrest within the party has not subsided, explains Sandvik. – The run-up to this meeting shows that Trondheim Ap is not a unified party. The divisions we saw during the upsetting annual meeting in February are still rifts in the party. One of those who was blamed for the internal unrest was Trond Giske. At the annual meeting, he was elected as deputy manager of Trøndelag Ap. After the meeting, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre asked Trondheim Ap to put an end to the row. But the party is still divided. – There is no doubt that the Labor Party, which recently adopted a vision of being a unified party, is not a unified party in Trondheim, says Sandvik. – It is especially around the processes and the way things are done that the criticism comes from one side. While the other side, which supports Trond Giske, has an opinion that the others are bad losers who do not understand that they do not have a majority in the organisation, she adds. Political commentator in news Tone Sofie Aglen said during the annual meeting in February that it is clear that Giske has all the power in Trondheim Ap. Not decided yet Earlier this summer, the local team in Trøndelag Ap submitted their entries to the Storting nominations. But there were few local teams who submitted their proposals and even fewer who voted for Giske. – There are remarkably few local teams that have recorded Trond Giske’s name, considering how much attention he has received in the media. My impression is that many have been confident of a comeback. That’s what political commentator in news, Tone Sofie Aglen, said in June. But things can still change until the final nominations are confirmed. And in Trondheim Ap, Giske’s local team, Nidaros social democratic forum, has 84 out of 178 delegates. – Trond Giske has a number of supporting players, but there are also some who are preoccupied with keeping him away. The nomination battle will probably reflect this, said Aglen. Because it has still not been finally decided who will be the representatives from Trøndelag Ap in the Storting after the election next year. Several of the current representatives are not re-elected and there is great tension as to who will replace them. In the North and South Trøndelag constituency, these are the most talked about candidates: Bjarte M. Johannesen / news Trond GiskeTrond Giske says he has not decided whether he wants to return to the Storting: – I am open to it, but I have not concluded on that, Giske has previously stated. Then she retired from politics before a comeback as a minister. It is unclear whether Tung wants to be on the Storting list for Sør-Trøndelag in the period 2025–2029. Bjarte Johannesen / news Per Olav HopsøPer Olav Skurdal Hopsø has since December 2023 been State Secretary for Employment and Inclusion Minister Tonje Brenna (Ap). Before that he was group leader for the Labor Party in Trøndelag county municipality. Hopsø wants to be on the parliamentary list for Sør-Trøndelag in the period 2025–2029. Morten Andersen / news Tore O. SandvikTore O. Sandvik is a former county mayor in Sør-Trøndelag and Trøndelag from 2003 to 2023. From 2023 he has been state secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Fisheries. It is unclear whether Sandvik wants to be on the parliamentary list for Sør- Trøndelag in the period 2025–2029. Per Sveinung Larsen / news Ingvild Kjerkol Ingvild Kjerkol was Minister of Health and Welfare until he resigned in April this year. She is the leader of the Trøndelag Labor Party. Kjerkol wants to be on the parliamentary list for Nord-Trøndelag in the period 2025–2029. The nomination process continues After all the municipal parties have submitted their lists of 20 candidates, the nomination committee must prepare a proposal for a joint list. The municipal party must then give feedback on this list and submit any proposed changes back to the nomination committee. The nomination committee will then prepare its final proposal. The final proposal will then be debated and adopted at the nomination meeting on 30 November. Published 15.08.2024, at 08.08 Updated 15.08.2024, at 09.24
