– We have talked to our daughter about internet savvy several times. We told her what not to do and that she had to talk to us if something like this happened. Nevertheless, it happened to us, the mother said when she took the witness stand today. A few meters away sits the man accused of tricking her 10-year-old daughter into performing sexual acts online. – I get sick and angry, she says to news. The young mother shares her fate with 51 other parents. All of them have children who have been abused by the man. During the trial, video images of several of the assaults are shown. By pretending to be a young girl, the man in his 30s tricked the children into performing sexual acts. The youngest girl was only six years old when the abuse happened. He later saved the video images on his own computer. Yesterday he pleaded guilty to all counts in the indictment. – Had obsessive thoughts The mother said that she knew nothing about the abuse against her daughter before the police called. – I thought it must be a mistake, she said. The mother says she talked to her daughter about internet savvy on her mobile phone. – Nevertheless, it affected us, she says. She struggled to go to bed and go to school. Something was disgusting, she said. When the daughter was informed that it was an adult man who had asked her to perform sexual acts, it triggered strong emotions. – There were a lot of tears, shame and denial. That the daughter used this was completely unknown to the parents. – It was so far from my mind. We have warned her so many times. So mistakes can be made. The abuses have hit the family hard. – Especially her dad takes it hard. There have been some tough rounds with a lot of despair, says the mother. The accused man continued his explanation in Buskerud district court today, but the court has imposed a so-called record ban, which prevents the press from reproducing what he says. He has previously stated that he regrets and feels ashamed of what he has done. The public prosecutor has announced that the prosecution will consider submitting a request for a custodial sentence for the man.
