Cows at the E18 Borgekrysset in Sandefjord for the third time in four days – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

On Thursday afternoon, the Sør-East police district stated that they were harassed by people who reported that around 40 cows had got out on the E18 at the Borgekrysset in Stokke in Sandefjord. This led to the E18 having to be closed in the southbound direction, while the owner was able to bring the animals back in. On Friday afternoon, the police moved out again following reports of many cows lying on the grass at the exit to the E18, heading towards the motorway. Sunday morning the same thing happened again. There were then 10–12 cows on E18, and the police went to the scene to ensure that no accident occurred before the owner was able to capture the animals again. E18 was also closed for a few minutes. Cows from the same place – It is the same cows and the same enclosure that has been there for the last few days, says operations manager Christian Fredrik de Boer Prytz to news. It is questionable whether the police believe that all good things are fairy tales, at least in this case. – It will potentially cause a major accident if a cow is hit. They are big animals, says the operations manager and adds: The cows have been observed at the junction where you get on and off the E18. – Therefore, the owner has also now been informed that this must be resolved. It cannot continue for them to leave the area there, he says. The police explain that the cows get through an electric fence in the area. – Scary to deal with traffic The Swedish Road Traffic Center also warns against cows in traffic, although the consequence these days has mostly been a reduced speed. – It is not ideal to have a cow at E18. They are large animals, which are scary to have next to traffic. So measures are taken as soon as they are nearby, says traffic operator Andreas Larsen. – Do you have any advice for road users near cows? – It is, after all, generally to be aware of things in the road. But I would like to believe that this has happened so many times now that the farmer has perhaps gained a little more control over them, I hope.
