Just before the house caught fire – We moved out with the five-person watch team, but considered whether to sound the full alarm. The cars were close to the row of houses, and one house has suffered heat damage. I was close to a house fire. Øberg says that little wind contributed to the fact that the houses did not start burning. – Not many minutes had passed before we had a house fire here and several cars on fire, says Tore Skarholm, development manager at Sunnfjord Fire and Rescue, about what met the fire brigade when they arrived. It is clear that there is heat damage to a house wall. The wall is covered in soot and the gutter has melted. – It was a good temperature when we got here and we had a few intense minutes before we got it down. The fire service was notified of the fire at 06.15. After a short time they were in control. Three cars were completely damaged. Photo: Vest police district The fire spreads easily The cause of the fire is unknown. – We are investigating widely and keeping all possibilities open, says police officer Andrine Njøsen Helgås. The area will be cordoned off and the police will interview witnesses. – If the fire has started in one car, it is easily contagious when they are so close together. There were people in five of the six houses, and it is unclear what time they can move home again. The fire service is engaged in post-extinguishing at the site. – We cool down the cars, and they are moved gradually. It was people in the area who reported the fire.
