A man from Helgeland was sentenced to 10 years in prison in May for several rapes and abuse in family relationships. The man avoided serving the sentence by leaving the country. The man has now been extradited to Norway, and he has started serving the sentence of 10 years in prison. Long-term abuse The man was accused of having committed several rapes and long-term abuse, both physical and psychological, by a former roommate. He was also accused of several rapes against another woman with whom he also lived. The prosecution submitted a request for ten years’ imprisonment. They heard about this at the court. The man has also been sentenced to pay NOK 400,000 and NOK 280,000 respectively to the two victims in the case. Defense attorney Arne Johansen told Helgelands Blad that his client will appeal the case, both the question of guilt and the question of compensation.
