Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on his very first visit to Norway. On Wednesday, the Nordic prime ministers gathered in the Marmorhallen in the Ministry of Climate and Environment to hold a press conference. There, the Nordic countries showed their full support for the war-torn country. – We, the leaders of the Nordic countries, confirm our unwavering support for Ukraine. We represent countries where there is broad support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people’s fight for freedom, said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre from the podium. It was a grateful Zelenskyj who received the support from the Nordic countries. – It makes me happy to have such strong partners behind me. Putin must feel the losses and acknowledge that he must respect us, international law and freedom, the president pointed out. On Wednesday, new Russian missiles were reported hitting Ukrainian cities. – We direct our military support against the defense of Ukraine, and in particular against attacks with missiles and rockets. We are in a very serious situation now. This is a critical time in both the short and long run, says the Prime Minister. Nordic cooperation Zelenskyj has participated in the Nordic summit between the prime ministers of the Nordic countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is the host. The theme of the summit is Nordic cooperation on defense and security policy. – We will discuss strengthening cooperation on defence, politics and the economy, and our common future in Europe. Our goal is security, as well as fair and long-lasting peace on continents, Zelenskyj wrote ahead of the meeting at X. Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Ingrid Aleksandra will also be present. Zelenskyj will also visit the Storting. There he will meet the President of the Storting and address the representatives of the Storting. The government will also be present. – It is a great honor to receive Zelenskyj in the Storting. This shows the seriousness of the situation, and it shows that we stand together for our common democratic values. We must have constant attention to the war in Ukraine, even if it is now dragging on, says Storting President Masud Gharahkhani.
