The Israeli intelligence service Mossad is said to have planted small amounts of explosives in 5,000 pagers produced in Taiwan that were ordered by Hezbollah several months before Tuesday’s explosions. This is claimed by a Lebanese security source and another source to the Reuters news agency. Hezbollah also accuses Israel of being behind the explosions. Israel has so far neither confirmed nor denied that they were involved. The newspaper The New York Times also quotes anonymous officials that Israel must have planted explosives in the Taiwan-made pagers.
