Cinema audiences are back after the corona – news Kultur og underholdning

My Chao and little brother Tien Chao are ready to see the new movie Minions in theaters. They behave nicely, neatly and wear suits. Perhaps the youth has become “finer”. – We throw ourselves on the TikTok trend «GentleMinions», Min Chao exclaims. Minh Chao bought new shoes for little brother Tien Chao so that they would look even more alike. This is because the yellow helpers in the popular movies, dressed in blue overalls, love bananas. But why do young people dress up in suits to see the film in cinemas, while eating bananas? Photo: Munevver Yildiz / news According to several American websites, no one knows the origin behind this trend. But Vareity writes that it may have something to do with the fact that those who take part in the trend were small, when the first Minions movie came out in 2010. Now, five years after the last movie, the kids, who are now older, are getting dressed, dressed up in a suit as a kind of tribute to his childhood nostalgia. More popcorn and sweets This weekend saw over 78,000 Norwegians Minions: The story of Gru in cinemas. And action-packed Top Gun: Maverick has been seen by more than 400,000 around the country. When did you go to the cinema the most? Before the pandemic ? After the pandemic ? Show result For the first time in a long time, it seems that the visitor numbers for the cinemas are back as they were before the pandemic. – The audience comes more often, and they buy more candy and popcorn than before, says Mathilde Eikodd, sales and team leader at the Colosseum cinema in Oslo. Eikodd hopes you come back and watch a movie with them. Photo: Kristin Sverre Østensvik / news – It is great fun to finally be allowed to hold the big premieres and to receive visits abroad. That’s exactly how it should be. Almost normal years The sales figures for May this year are better for the cinemas than for the months of May on average in the last five years before the pandemic. So far this year, we have bought 3.9 million cinema tickets. That is around 80 percent of sales in a normal year, says Guttorm Petterson, CEO of Film & Kino. It is still young people who go to the cinema the most, according to Kino og film’s surveys. Photo: Hanna Huglen Revheim – We are very pleased with this. I think we will even get even more viewers during the year, because we have many cool films this autumn, both foreign and Norwegian, Petterson reveals. He believes that the economy and popularity of Norwegian cinemas will soon be back where they once were before the pandemic. Minor piracy While cinemas had to close completely or partially during the pandemic, many of the big companies sent their films straight to streaming services instead of to cinemas first. The cinemas feared that the audience would not return. But the result was that there were more pirated movies, according to Petterson. – When the movies go to the cinema, it is not as easy for the movie pirates to copy them as when they come on Netflix and other streaming services. This was experienced by several of the major producers of films during the pandemic. Now they pay more attention to the cinemas and give all films more time to be played in cinemas before they are released on the websites that stream the film. – Gets a little childish Filmmaker Joachim Trier also cheers in the cinemas. Trier made The World’s Worst Man and is one of three filmmakers who recently won Anders Jahre’s Culture Prize. Photo: ERIC GAILLARD / Reuters – I have never met a child who does not think it is great fun to go to the cinema. When we as adults go to the cinema, we meet the child in ourselves. We put down our mobile phones and become a little dreamy and childish.
