Danby Choi disagrees with the coverage of the US election, among his latest statements about it are what he calls “Talentless translations of Trump”. – What I miss is a medium with a higher level of trust in the population, he says in Politisk kvarter. According to Choi, Norwegian media are too one-sided when they cover Donald Trump. The editor-in-chief of Subjekt believes that Norwegian journalists often focus on controversial aspects of Trump, and that they overlook his charm and humor. The unrest for freedom of expression Trine Eilertsen, editor-in-chief of Aftenposten, disagrees. She believes the Norwegian media have done a good job of covering Trump, but acknowledges that it can be challenging to understand why he still has so much support. Choi believes that this lack of understanding shows an unbalanced coverage and calls for more positive aspects of Trump to also come to the fore. – You saw how he reacted to being shot, didn’t you? I don’t struggle to understand why young men think that this is a man to trust. Choi casts doubt on Norwegian journalists’ English skills, and believes that the coverage of Trump is evidence that the media in Norway may not be good enough in English to cover American elections. The world’s second richest man has, after much debate, gone out in his own newspaper and commented on the election: – Presidential support does not affect the outcome of an election. In a post of his own, he explained the election that has made many angry: – What actually happens with presidential support is that it creates an impression of partisanship and a lack of independence. Ending this practice is a principled decision, and it is the right one. Aftenposten’s editor-in-chief Trine Eilersten. An editorial office in Norway would also do that. Published 04.11.2024, at 07.52 Updated 04.11.2024, at 08.13
