Xinhua writes that he died in Shanghai on Friday after a heart attack. He was prime minister from 2013 until he was replaced by Li Qiang in March this year. After standing at the forefront of China’s economic reforms and being the most powerful politician in China after President Xi Jinping, he was removed from the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party last October.
