Children’s welfare institution totally damaged in fire – news Trøndelag

– When I got to the department, the house was actually on fire. That’s according to director of child protection and assistance at Stendi AS, Mona Andersen. She traveled down to the ward last night when she was called with information that there was a fire. At 03:50 last night, the police received a report that there was a fire in the house. – It seems that it has started on the outside of the building, says operations manager in Trøndelag police district Anne Birgitte Arras. Police prosecutor in Trøndelag police district, Mette Kollstrøm, informs that a person has been charged with having something to do with the fire. They will not disclose whether the person concerned is affiliated with the institution. There must have been six people in the house when the fire started. Everyone was evacuated and out of the house when the police and fire brigade arrived. The fire brigade had the fire under control at 05:45. – It says to interview those who were present there and further forensic investigations to try to find the cause of the fire, says Arras. The fire is said to have started on the outside of the house and then spread to the roof and third floor, according to the police. She praises the staff for doing everything right in the situation. – They have weight guards, they have evacuated and done what they have trained for with regard to our fire routines. None of the victims were injured after the fire. – The first status is that everyone is doing well, says the director. The employees at the institution are said to have woken up to the fact that there was a fire on the outside of the residence. The department they have been moved to is an approved child protection institution for the same target group and with space for the same number of people. Their focus from now on will be to look after and follow up those who experienced the fire. – We are working to talk about this incident and what has happened. And then we have to see whether we have any more follow-up and links with the occupational health service, Andersen explains. Due to the Easter holidays, there were fewer residents in the house than usual, but these will also have a place in the ward they are now using. – That everything has gone well with the people in the residence is good. That is what is most important, she says.
