Chess streamer Gotham Chess with a frontal attack against its own followers – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– Before I talk about the party, I want to take a few minutes to say something about something that I am incredibly disappointed about, Levy Rozman begins in one of his latest YouTube videos. Rozman, better known as GothamChess on various streaming platforms, makes a living playing and streaming various chess content. He has over 5 million followers on YouTube. He is currently participating in the Spilimbergo Open in Italy. As usual, he streams his games. But it was followers’ comments during his second and fourth games that made Rozman rage against his own followers. – The comments in the live broadcast today, in the same way as the comments in my other party, which was also a woman, they were disgusting, says Rozman. – You are a piece of shit. Rozman does not say specifically what is written in the comment fields, but in a several-minute-long tirade he attacks the nasty, trollish and terrible comments against his female opponents. In the video, he also attacks those who believe he himself has created a toxic community with his sour and sarcastic videos. – No, I didn’t. I am open and honest about what I think about such behavior. You’re an asshole if you act like that. news has previously written several articles about women who are exposed to inappropriate behavior in chess. Among others Anna Cramling, who felt different when the judge asked her to change her clothes: – Shame on you The Norwegian chess streamer Solveig Friberg believes it is incredibly important that a person like Rozman, with his 5 million followers on YouTube, takes such a strong settlement with the incitement of women. – Women find it very positive when men talk about these things uninvited. It often happens that the debate comes up when women bring it up themselves. At least when you have a position like his, it’s a person many people look up to and look up to, so it’s a positive influence, Friberg believes. STREAMER: Solveig Friberg started playing chess a few years ago and is now one of the Norwegian chess streamers. She says she mostly gets positive feedback, but not always. – You can get some comments that say that there are fewer women than men in chess because they have a lower IQ or have problems with the brain, sighs Friberg. She even interviewed the world runner-up in chess, Hikaru Nakamura, about this during the Norway Chess tournament. – He said that it can be very lonely to be a female chess player because of comments like that. I didn’t grow up playing chess myself, but you hear stories, says Friberg. Rozman comes in his video with a clear call and harsh criticism to those who throw comments: – You are not smart enough to put yourself in a woman’s situation, but what you may be capable of is to think what if someone treated the sister, your mother or daughter in this way. Imagine someone wrote the same comments about them. Shame on you if you behave that way, says Rozman. Published 14.08.2024, at 09.40
