– This is an incredibly tragic case, says general manager Børge Sundnes in Sørlandsbadet. The popular water park in Lyngdal is one of the places where the sports director accused of abuse has operated. The sports club had a collaboration with Sørlandsbadet, where children could come after school to swim. The man in his 30s was often the one who traveled there with the students. – It was unfortunately not surprising that things had also happened here, when you knew this was one of the arenas where he had been with children, says Sundnes. – Did you have any suspicions against the sports manager? – No, we had no suspicions. If we had, we would have taken it up with sports teams and the police at once. Kripos involved The man’s defender, Bjørge Usterud Tveito, does not want to comment on news’s information. The sports manager is charged with physical abuse of children, and for having produced abuse material. He pleads guilty. As far as news is aware, there is no suspicion that the images have been shared with others. Police prosecutor Ingrid Thorsen is leading the investigation into the case. She does not wish to comment on the information about Sørlandsbadet. – It is a central topic for the investigation to search and map the content and extent of the accused’s dealings with illegal depictions of children, writes Thorsen in an email to news.
