There was an exit in the 2nd round for Italian Fabio Fognini. Ruud struggled against his 94th-ranked opponent and lost in four sets with the set numbers 4-6, 5-7, 7-6 (7-1), 3-6. It was Fognini’s first win against Ruud in four attempts. They have previously played twice on clay and once on hard court. Fognini had never won a set against Ruud before Wednesday’s showdown on grass in London.
