– There has been a change in the weather in the morning which makes it so slippery. There is ice on the roads and the cars cannot make it on flat ground, says operations manager in the South-West police district, Jøran Solheim. On Sunday morning, it was decided to close the busy E 39 at Vikeså in Rogaland, in the northbound direction. Just before, a car with two passengers slid into the ditch and landed on its side, in Helleland, south of Vikeså. None of the passengers were injured in the traffic accident. Almost at the same time, the same thing happened at Røyksund in Karmøy municipality. Here a car landed with two people on the roof. The people in the car escaped the accident without physical injuries. – There is not much more to do than sprinkle and possibly wait until it gets milder, Solheim said just before 9 o’clock. The police had then received reports of slippery roads from Fitjar in Vestland to Moi in Agder. The Norwegian Road Traffic Center was notified and started spreading. At 9.30 the police reported on Twitter that E 39 was open again. Round dance in Bergen – What we see now in the morning hours are showers that wash away the salt so that it freezes again, so it becomes a kind of round dance, says traffic operator Tor Evensen at Veitrafikksentralen West. He has received reports of slippery roads in the area around Bergen, in the south of Vestland county and down towards Rogaland in coastal areas. – The contractors are doing their best to keep the conditions good, but it is demanding with these showers that hit a bit sporadically, he says. Also on the E 39 south of Bergen, a car drove around in the morning hours on Sunday. The driver was uninjured, but it was very slippery at the scene, says operations manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen in the West police district. Grenlandsbrua still closed Grenlandsbrua between Porsgrunn and Bamble on the E 18 is still closed in both directions. It was closed on Saturday afternoon when ice fell from the wires and onto the road. On Sunday morning, a drone checked the snow and ice to be removed, says traffic operator Kristin Våsjø in the South Traffic Center. It is unclear when the bridge will be opened.
