Cargo ship in operation in the North Sea – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

23 October 2023 at 10:52 Cargo ship in operation in the North Sea A cargo ship has engine problems in the south of the North Sea near the Ekofisk field. The coast guard ship Bergen has temporarily towed the ship to prevent it from getting too close to the platforms on the Ekofisk field. A tug has been ordered from the ship’s insurance company. It is expected to arrive this afternoon, says Director of Environmental Preparedness at the Coastal Administration Hans Petter Mortensholm There is no danger to life and health, and a rescue operation has therefore not been initiated, says rescue manager Andreas Ingsøy at the Central Rescue Service. The cargo ship is 166 meters long and came from Murmansk in Russia. Neither the Central Rescue Service nor the Coastal Administration know whether this is the reason why helicopter traffic to and from the North Sea is at a standstill.
