8 August 2024 at 18:31 Car in the water in Tønsberg – underage boy brought ashore Sør-East 110 reported at 18:27 that the fire service was dispatched following a report of a car that had driven into the water at the Canal Bridge in Tønsberg. – When we arrived at the scene, we saw that there was a car partially under water and that there was a person in the car, says the police’s task leader at the scene, Thorleif Rustad. Shortly afterwards, the police reported on X that the person had been brought ashore. – How did it go to rescue the person? – It went very well. Surface rescuers from the fire service in Tønsberg were quickly on the scene, and were able to get him out of the car. The police further state that the person who was in the car is a minor boy. He is checked out by paramedics at the scene. – The boy is taken home with his guardians. It appears that the car has been parked, that the handbrake has been removed and that the car has rolled into the water, says operations manager Espen Reite at the South-East police district.
