23 December 2023 at 17:29 Car fire inside the Karmøytunnel At 16:20 the Fire Service responded to a car fire inside the Karmøytunnel on Karmøy. The tunnel is now emergency closed, reports the fire service. The police report that they are supposed to be, or are, in the roundabout in the middle of the tunnel. The burning car must have crashed into the tunnel wall before it caught fire. It is unknown whether there are people in the car, or whether something has got out, writes the police Sørvest on X. They state that there should be no more cars inside the tunnel at the present time, the tunnel is being closed. There will be a lot of black smoke coming out of the tunnel opening, the fire brigade is preparing smoke divers. is updated
