23 December 2022 at 23:15 Goalless in “Norwegian” clash in Belgium Jens Petter Hauge and Aron Dønnum started for each team when Gent and Standard Liège played 0-0 in the Belgian top division in football on Friday. The match was the first after a longer break in connection with the World Cup in Qatar. Ronny Deila’s Standard came into the match with two straight losses, while Gent had not lost in their last four matches. Standard was two points behind Gent before the match, but the draw results in Gent celebrating Christmas in 5th place, two points behind Club Brugge. However, they have one more game to play. While Jens Petter Hauge started, Andreas Hanche-Olsen was not in Gent’s squad. Hauge was replaced after an hour of play. Dønnum played the entire match for the Liège team. Jesper Daland started for Cercle Brugge in the 1-1 match against Mechelen. Kevin Denkey sent Cercle into the lead after just three minutes. Brugge had to play the last 40 minutes with ten players after Olivier Deman picked up two yellow cards. After 71 minutes, Nikola Storm equalized and secured a point for the hosts.
