21 January 2024 at 05:43 The Norwegian Road Administration warns: It can suddenly become slippery at altitude Mild weather has hit Western Norway, but it doesn’t look like there will be major problems in traffic on Sunday. Up in the mountains it can quickly become slippery. At 5.30am, the Road Traffic Center West can see bare asphalt and wet roads in the lowlands and near the big cities in Western Norway. It is around 4 plus degrees and raining. – It probably won’t be smooth sailing there. It looks fine now, says traffic operator Ken Ove Holm to NTB. It is up in the mountains that there may be problems on Sunday. Where there is snow, there will be ice. In areas where it is bare and wet, but suddenly gets cold, the smoothness can come on surprisingly. – It can freeze up quickly where it goes from being plus to minus, says Holm. The mountain passes are open in the morning, but it is windy on Hardangervidda. There can be queues at short notice. The mild weather will move to Eastern Norway during the day. (NTB)
