– Can seem like madness – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– I do not know where the idea of Norway along came from, but I know that I really want to see how much I tolerate, and how far I can go. That’s what ultra runner Kevin Brekken Ramsfjell from Ålgård in Rogaland says. He has set himself the goal of breaking the current record of 34 days from 2011. His plan is to walk Norway along, a distance of 2600 km, in just 13 days. That is more than halving the previous record. ROUTE: 2600 km From Nordkapp to Lindesnes. – Yes, that is the goal I have seen. And then we’ll see if I go a little faster or a little slower, it’s not so careful. But that’s what I’m going for, 13 days, he says. Cross-country profile Anders Aukland is impressed with the plans for Ramsfjell. He himself has seen several extreme records during his long career. – It can seem like madness. There are probably many who think so. But I think it is exciting that some people go out on such adventures, says Aukland to news. – No one else has done In the experiment, the 22-year-old has plans to walk 200 km a day. This corresponds to an effective time of between ten and twelve hours of walking. Few have tried such a load over such a long time before on roller skis. – Yes, it’s brutally hard. But it is entirely possible to do so, I think. There are several who have gone far on roller skis for a few days. But to go so far, so many days in a row, there is probably no one else who has done, so it will be exciting to see. Because that is the challenge here: what happens on days five, six, seven and eight, Aukland explains. Ramsfjell still seems confident that he is able to do it, even though he has not directed the training specifically towards this summer’s trip. His plan is to continue investing in ultra-running. Warns about challenges along the way The trip is not entirely without risk. Aukland points out that few have been exposed to that amount of stress over such a long time. – My experience, without having gone so far for so many days in a row, is that acute inflammation often comes in the wrist and fingers. When you go roller skiing, you can also get it on your feet, says Aukland, who a year ago walked an incredible 70 km in just 41 hours. Ramsfjell also counts injuries as a risk on the trip. – I’m not nervous about so much actually, apart from injuries. That’s what’s the big ugly wolf in this project here. So if I get hurt, it will be a big disadvantage, when one has to walk so long. Another challenge will be food intake, Aukland explains. A LOT OF EXPERIENCE: Anders Aukland himself can point to 27 years at the top level in sports. Photo: Terje Pedersen / NTB – You must have a very high food intake, and it is often a challenge to eat enough. When I drove and walked far, it was important for me to get enough nourishment. But he has to find a routine for it. Aukland: – The weather has a lot to say Rogalendingen is also looking forward to seeing some of Norway on the trip, and emphasizes that he gets plenty of time in the 13 days. Probably he also has to settle for a little varied summer weather on the way to Lindesnes. – The weather has a lot to say. It is clear that it is easier to walk ten hours out in the sun than to walk in the rain. If you get many days of rain, it is much more stressful. It will be cold and gloomy, and it will strain more on the forces. If he lets go of rain, it will be a big advantage, I would say, Aukland points out. READY FOR CHALLENGE: The trip will be a perfect test for both skiing skills and endurance. Photo: Private
