The perpetrators drove off the road and ended up on a field in Stor-Elvdal. A weapon was later found near the getaway car. For several months, Kripos has had the weapon for examination. The report is now ready. – The analysis shows with great certainty that this is the weapon that was used to fire shots at the victim in the case, says police attorney Vibeke Stolp Ekeland. The abducted 20-year-old was hit by a shot. The projectile retrieved from his body is compared to the weapon. – Based on that, we believe that we have found the right weapon, says Stolp Ekeland. Important evidence It was on the night of 2 January this year that two men entered the house on Vingelen in Tolga and abducted the 20-year-old. His parents were subjected to violence and several shots were fired. The weapon that was found and is now linked to the abduction is a revolver. The police searched for the weapon several times this winter, without finding anything. But one day in May, police officers were back at the place in question. Then they found what they were looking for. – From our side, it was not unexpected that this was the right weapon. It was found at the place where the accused had proven it was supposed to be, says the police attorney. The weapon is not registered to anyone. It has not been reported stolen either. – Beyond that, no further investigations have been carried out into who is the owner of the weapon for the time being, says Stolp Ekeland. Enhanced charges Six men have been charged with deprivation of liberty or complicity in deprivation of liberty. Some have pleaded guilty, others have not. The weapon is an important piece of evidence in the case. The fact that it can be linked to what happened in the house at Tolga could mean that the charges against one or more of them could be intensified. – We have to look at the whole case together before we come to a conclusion. We also have an alternative called “serious deprivation of liberty” and we will assess whether there is a relevant penalty in the case, says police attorney Stolp Ekeland. The police believe they have control over who fired the shots inside the house on Tolga. Four of the six accused have explained in police questioning what role they have had. The escape The abducted 20-year-old was missing for a day before he managed to get on the train from Gardermoen and was helped to contact his family. Then the accused had first taken him with them in a rental car down Ă˜sterdalen. That journey ended on a plot of land just off national highway 3 in Stor-Elvdal. The car was left there. According to the police, the accused took the 20-year-old in a taxi some distance further. Someone else drove them the last stretch to Oslo. The 20-year-old and the family around him received close follow-up for some time after the shooting and abduction drama in their home in Tolga. Various security measures were also implemented around them, but this was lifted this spring. Trial in January The case will now be sent rather quickly to the state prosecutors in Hedmark and Oppland, who will decide what the accused can be prosecuted for. The trial following the abduction at Tolga in January this year will start as planned on 9 January next year. Three weeks have been set aside for the hearing in the Ă˜stre Innlandet district court in Hamar.
