Kibar Holding’s esteemed Founder and Honorary Chairman , Asım Kibar, has passed away at the age of 92 . It has been reported that Kibar had been receiving treatment at a hospital for some time.
In a statement from Kibar Holding, they expressed their deep sorrow, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Founder and Honorary Chairman, Asım Kibar. Our condolences go out to everyone.”
GOING ON HIS FINAL JOURNEY TOMORROW
The funeral of Asım Kibar is set to take place on June 8 , on a Sunday, at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque . Following the afternoon prayer, his body will be interred at the family graveyard in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery .
MAJOR INVESTMENTS UNDER HIS BELT
Asım Kibar was an influential figure in various sectors, having founded Kibar Holding that made significant investments in aluminum , automotive , food , real estate , and energy . His contributions were not limited to commercial enterprises; he also spearheaded numerous social responsibility projects in the fields of healthcare and education .
Kibar has also penned an autobiography titled “Trust is the Most Valuable Asset” , reflecting on his life and values.
WHO WAS ASIM KIBAR?
Born in 1933 in Kayseri , Asım Kibar embarked on his business journey at the young age of 18 , beginning with wholesale textile trade . Between 1964 and 1970 , he served in various capacities at the Central Anatolia Textile Factory , ultimately becoming the Chairman of the Board .
In 1970 , he ventured into iron trading and established his family’s company in Istanbul , which has now blossomed into Kibar Holding—a conglomerate with a total of 24 subsidiaries under its umbrella.
Kibar’s efforts were recognized throughout his career. He received numerous accolades, including being named Businessman of the Year by Siyaset Magazine in 1997 , and by the National Productivity Center in 1998 . Additionally, he received special recognition from the Kayseri Chamber of Industry in 1998 and again in 1999 from Rotary Club Kocaeli and Nokta Magazine as Businessman of the Year .
In 2002 , he was awarded the Commandatore Order of Merit by the President of Italy, and in 2016 , he received the Honorary Award of Turkish Business World from Capital and Ekonomist magazines. Kibar was also a founding member of the Community Volunteers Foundation .
From 2014 onwards, Asım Kibar continued to serve within the Kibar Group as its Founder and Honorary Chairman .
