– It has been a shocking break-in where thieves have backed in with a car and tried to break some of the large windows we have, says Knut Forsberg, who is general manager at Blomqvist auction house. At 6 o’clock on Tuesday morning, the burglar alarms were triggered. Forsberg was notified via the alarm centre. Then he thought: – No, not now again. But it has been around 25 years since the last time, he adds. – Hugely disappointed The value of the items that have been stolen varies from NOK 5,000 to NOK 50,000. Managing director Knut Forsberg tells VG that the silver stuff is probably the most expensive single item that was stolen. It has a value of between NOK 200,000 and 250,000, according to Forsberg. The “Tank Louis” watch from Cartier was the most expensive watch stolen. It is worth around NOK 50,000 to 60,000. Forsberg still believes that the thieves have been looking for watches and jewelery that are more expensive than those on display in the premises at Fornebu. And that they therefore did not get what they were looking for. – No, I think they are very disappointed. Has video recording According to Forsberg, the thieves used many attempts by car before they managed to smash the windows to the premises. – They got in and stole some everyday watches and what we call some less valuable jewellery. And it is possible that some luxury bags have also gone missing. The premises also suffered water damage after a water pipe was torn off. A plumber and the fire service were able to stop the leak and have been working to remove water. Photo: Jane Rasmussen / news Forsberg has looked at surveillance images of what happened. The cameras are placed inside the room. He says they backed into the window three times before they got inside. – First, a person comes in who starts smashing, assembling and supplying himself. Then another one arrives, and then they are out again very quickly, says Forsberg. Several mounts are broken. Photo: Roy Pettersen / news He says they were inside for around half a minute. – How many were there in total? – Two pieces that we could see. But we don’t know if there were anyone else in the car. The burglars were masked. The burglars smashed their way into the premises, where they stayed for around 30 seconds. Forensic technicians examined the scene on Tuesday morning. – Based on the information we have, a gray or silver Mercedes passenger car must have been used during the theft. That’s what Christina Borch, police attorney and on-call lawyer in the Oslo police district, told news. – We have gone through some video, and based on the information we have there, we have a registration number to work from. The police are investigating the break-in as grand theft. – Then the penalty will be imprisonment for up to six years, says Borch. – A lot of management The day does not go as planned for the day-to-day manager at the Blomqvist auction house. Actually, they were supposed to have a budget meeting. – There will then be an item count to find out exactly what has been stolen. – There will be a lot of management then. Police inside the room. Photo: SVEIN VESTRUM OLSSON / news Blomqvist also has to clean up his online auction. Remove stolen items from the auction. – These are privately owned things, so we have to find out who owns them. It will be a lot of extra work. Despite the break-in, there was a lot the thieves did not get away with during the night’s shock break. – There is still a lot left. They didn’t get everything, says Forsberg. Blomqvist Netauksjon is located at Fornebu in Bærum in Akershus county.
