A catamaran capsized on Byfjorden in Bergen in the afternoon on Sunday 11 September. The accident happened between Bontelabo and Nordnespynten. Two adults and one child were involved in the accident. All three were sent to hospital. The child received life-saving healthcare. The child died on Wednesday evening at Haukeland University Hospital. Witnesses have described that the boat maintained a high speed before it took off and fell down the wrong way. One person is charged with having navigated the boat in such a way that there was a danger to life and health. The accused in the case is the father of the boy who died. He himself is seriously injured after the accident. The police have questioned the accused man and the other passenger in the boat. – Due to their state of health, it has not been justifiable until now with further police questioning, writes police attorney Katrine Eikestad in a press release.
