1 November 2023 at 10:17 Thanks for the support after the bus attack: – Could have ended in tragedy Italian Fabio Grosso is in good spirits after football fans threw stones at the Lyon bus on Sunday. Nine people were arrested after the attack. Sunday’s big game in French football had to be postponed after Grosso was hit by shards of glass and needed medical attention. His assistant Raffaele Longo was also injured. According to French media, around a hundred people, allegedly Marseille supporters, threw stones and smoke bombs at the Lyon bus when it arrived at the Stade Vélodrome ahead of the away game. At least one window pane in the bus was completely smashed. – This could have ended as a tragedy, and it certainly was for the sport and everyone who loves it. I hope with all my heart that we can learn from this. Thanks for all the support. Now we focus on the road ahead, writes Grosso. French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera has condemned the attack. – These unacceptable actions, characterized by stupidity and hatred, have nothing to do with sport. They must be eradicated with the utmost determination by all actors, public and private, who really love the sport, she wrote. (© NTB)
