One person has been confirmed dead after the boat accident, this is confirmed by task leader Steinar Bjerke. Relatives have been notified. Bjerke says a larger cabin cruiser and a sailboat collided between Rødtangen and Langøya in the Oslo Fjord. The sailboat sank while the first units were on the scene. – One person was found on board the sailboat and was taken care of before the sailboat sank. He is quickly confirmed dead. The driver of the cabin cruiser has been taken ashore and unharmed. He has been questioned by the police and is being followed up by the healthcare system, informs Bjerke. – There remains a number of technical investigations both of the boat that has been towed in, some questioning and documentation from the rescue agencies that were on the scene. IN PLACE: Operations leader Steinar Bjerke is on site. Photo: Peter Svaar / news Bjerke says they have information that gives them a clue as to the sequence of events, but says it is too early to say anything concrete. – There is quite a lot of wind and quite a few waves out there, and then something or other has caused them to collide. Blood alcohol levels are not suspected. Small sailboat has sunk Aune says a motorboat and a small sailboat have collided. – The sailboat has gone down. The other boat, a motorboat, was towed to shore by the fire service at 3 p.m., says Rune Elstad, operations manager at Fire and Rescue Oslo. He says they currently do not have an overview of the extent of the damage to the motorboat. – This is still an ongoing incident, and the police, HRS and rescue boat are on the scene and working. SERIOUS: The police describe that one person has died. Photo: NTB Has established a reception device on land The main rescue center (HRS) coordinated the rescue operation out at sea with, among other things, a rescue helicopter. Oslo Police District is taking over the case now that the work mainly takes place in a reception apparatus they have established on land. – We are now carrying out the necessary investigations, such as questioning, and eventually we will also examine the boats involved. It will take time to figure out how to get the sailboat out of the water, says Aune. Neither the fire service nor the police have any idea what caused the accident. Deep water The area of the collision is northeast of Langøya. The island lies between Holmestrand in Vestfold and Hurumlandet in Asker. The accident area is in the sea area outside Hurum. Which is the reason why the Oslo police district is connected. – There is deep water at the site, says Aune. All the agencies are finished on site out in the sea. They are now working at the reception center after the accident at Tofte in Asker. Published 23.06.2024, at 14.38 Updated 23.06.2024, at 16.45
