A boat with nine people capsized in the sea at the island of Teksmoma in Nordland on the night of Saturday. The police first received a report about the accident at four o’clock. It was the people involved themselves who reported the incident. The accident happened west of Ørnes, which is the municipal center in Meløy municipality. One person was missing for a while, but operations manager in the Nordland police district, Kjetil Kaalaas, informs news at three o’clock that they now have control over everyone involved. – The rescue teams have now arrived at the scene. No people are now missing, but several are injured, says Kaalaas. The police describe the accident as serious. Has appointed crisis staff Mayor Sigurd Stormo (Ap) in Meløy municipality tells news that the municipality has appointed crisis staff. – We are gathered at the town hall. We are following the situation and are in contact with the police, says Stormo. Earlier, the police informed that life-saving first aid was given at the scene. – The crew who are on the scene can confirm that this is a serious accident, says Kaalaas. A rescue helicopter, several civilian ships and a rescue boat were sent to the area to assist with the rescue work. Those involved are now being transported to countries where they will be looked after by health care. The boat with the nine people on board capsized in the Messøyfjord, about two hours south of Bodø.
