It was a young male bear weighing approximately 100 kilos that was shot around midnight on Friday night. The hunt started early Wednesday morning. – It was shot in the front part of Skjækerdalen, Roar Leirset tells news. He is an adviser for forests and outback in Verdal municipality. Around 20 people were involved in the felling team. On Tuesday evening, the bear was seen on a game camera, which caused the municipality to apply for a felling permit. A felling permit was granted for it after a fresh carcass of a sheep was found in Forlandet in Verdal. In total, nine dead sheep and lambs have been found in the area. – There has been a phenomenal effort by those who have been out on the felling mission, says Leirset.
