Big cuts at St. Olav – must save NOK 200 million – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

– We are now planning a cost reduction of 200 million next year, says hospital director Grethe Aasved in a press release. It also states that the overall picture shows a total financial challenge of approximately NOK 500 million. Of this, costs and lost income as a result of the Health Platform amount to approximately NOK 150 million. Around NOK 350 million is mainly related to higher staffing and higher ICT costs than before. – As at other Norwegian hospitals, we have had a large increase in staffing since the pandemic hit us in 2020. But in addition, St. Olav has also increased staffing related to the introduction of the Health Platform, which still requires more staff until the hospital is in normal operation again, says Aasved. Adopts budget in December The board will adopt the budget for 2024 at its meeting on 11 December. – The board approves the budget at hospital level, while the work to identify the savings takes place throughout the organisation. I would like to emphasize again how important it is that shop stewards and safety representatives participate actively in these processes. It is only together as a team that we can manage this, says Aasved. The extent of the savings also means that fewer employees will have to be employed, the press release further states. – It is important that we do not lose more time than necessary. Through all the innovation projects and the way managers and employees have handled the pandemic and the Health Platform, I know that there is a lot of creativity and commitment in the hospital. It is crucial for us to get out of the demanding situation as quickly as possible, says the hospital director. Hospital director Grethe Aasved Photo: Morten Waagø / news
