The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning for snow in the mountains in southern Norway. The snow line will lie between 800-1000 meters above sea level. – We expect 10-20 cm to fall. Make sure the car is properly locked if you are going out for a drive, the meteorologists report. – If you are going to the mountains, you should do an extra check on what to expect, says meteorologist Espen Biseth Granan. The Meteorological Institute reports precipitation, which is partly sleet or snow showers at high altitudes on Saturday in both Trøndelag, Møre and Romsdal as well as the mountains in southern Norway. The Meteorological Institute has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain on Friday for large parts of Vestland county. – From early Friday morning until late Friday afternoon, 50-70 mm is expected locally in Vestland. We see that it is especially in Sogn og Fjordane, but also in Stølsheimen and the area around Folgefonna that a good deal of precipitation is expected, says meteorologist on duty in Vestland, Geir Ottar Fagerlid. He also advises to have the right tyres, if you are going uphill at the weekend. – That means winter tyres. If snow and sleet are reported, then winter tires apply, he says. Gullvåg reminds that drivers are obliged to have the correct tire equipment for the conditions. – Even though we are still relatively early in October, it is the weather and road conditions that govern – not necessarily the date, says the traffic operator. Most snow in the north – Low pressure moves over southern Norway and brings precipitation in essentially the entire country on Friday. On Saturday there will be a northerly wind. Then the rainfall will probably stop around Stad and Dovre, says Granan. In the mountains, snow and freezing temperatures are forecast throughout the weekend. On Sunday, there will be a new round of precipitation over southern Norway.
