On Friday, the British newspaper The Sun published a case of debts against a presenter at the British broadcaster BBC. The BBC says in a statement that they take the debts very seriously. The man is to blame for having bought sexually explicit images of a teenager. The debts have led to the British Minister for Culture on Sunday calling for an emergency meeting with BBC chief Tim Davie. They call the presenter a high-profile employee of the British state channel. The newspaper owes the presenter for having paid more than 35,000 pounds, or just under half a million kroner, to a teenager in exchange for sexually explicit images. This amount must have been paid over three years. The contact between them must have started when the teenager was 17, and according to the mother, the money must have been used to buy crack cocaine. In a statement from the British Ministry of Culture, the debts are described as very worrying. Refusing to be involved After the debts were made public, several prominent BBC figures have spoken out on social media, denying being involved in the case. Rylan Clark, Jeremy Vine, Nicky Campbell and Gary Lineker are among them. Gary Lineker, the presenter of the BBC’s “Match of the Day”, has refused to be involved. The BBC says in a statement that they have actively tried to talk to those who have contacted them to get more information and understanding of the situation. The BBC has previously been involved in scandal. The prominent BBC presenter Jimmy Saville was blamed after his death for having been behind a series of abuses against people between the ages of 5 and 75. Among those the late presenter is said to have preyed on were sick people at a hospital.
