The police therefore suspect that the fire may have been set. That’s according to Dag Steinkopf, head of operations at Politie Sørvest. At 0325 last night, the fire service and police received a report of the fire in a barn, which was only 30 meters from a construction site, behind Amanda Storsenter at Raglamyr in Haugesund. – There was a gale blowing and the rain of sparks meant that there was a risk of the fire spreading to the construction site, says Haugesund fire brigade chief Torgrim Jørgensen. There were also asbestos sheets on the building, which caused the fire brigade to fear that the smoke from the fire could be harmful to the neighbors in the building site. – That danger is now no longer present, says emergency manager Jørgensen, just after 05:00. By then, parts of the barn have burned down and the fire service has control. They have also been inside parts of the barn without finding either animals or people, says Jørgensen.
