Barcelona decided “El Clásico” in overtime – took a big step towards gold

The giant clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid, known as “El Clásico”, ended with a 2-1 victory for Barcelona on Sunday evening. Franck Kessie decided the match in overtime – and may have decided the golden match in Spain. Barcelona now lead the league with twelve points down on arch-rivals Real Madrid. Twelve games remain in the season. Wild scenes of jubilation erupted at the Camp Nou when Kessie wide-sided the winning goal after a beautiful Barcelona attack. Robert Lewandowski heel-kicked the ball beautifully to Alejandro Baldé. The left-back whipped in a cross which Kessie met and placed past a chanceless Thibaut Courtois. However, it was the capital club that took the lead after an own goal by Ronald Araujo, but Sergi Roberto equalized shortly before the break. Marco Asensio thought he had decided the game in Real Madrid’s favor in the 82nd minute, but the goal was disallowed for a fine offside. Instead, it was Barcelona who won the giant clash, and took a giant step towards league gold.
