Bankruptcy municipality received money from unexpected holdings – news Culture and entertainment

– I got high blood pressure when I saw all the Vippsvar links on my mobile phone, says mayor of Moskenes municipality, Hanna Sverdrup. On Thursday evening, when she opened her mobile phone, she was greeted with 85 Vippsvarslingar. Everyone had arrived at the same time. – I had heart palpitations and didn’t understand anything. I wondered if there was perhaps a mistake with Vipps or if there was someone with a birthday who had the same number, continued Sverdrup. This is what it looked like when Hanna Sverdrup opened her mobile on Thursday evening. But when the next day she got an explanation from the project manager in “Desken brenner”, Jan-Terje Østerberg, she quickly calmed down. – Then I understood a little more, because we had been mentioned in that program on a couple of occasions before, she says and chuckles. Lack of money in the municipality of Moskenes in Lofoten is known for idyllic fishing weather, chalky white beaches and the popular mountain Reinebringen. But in recent years, the municipal economy has gone very badly. This winter they threatened to go bankrupt if they didn’t get help from the state. In May, it was announced that they would receive 15 million in crisis aid. Someone who has caught on to the fact that Moskenes municipality has struggled financially, and who has even resented it, is the humor and satire program “Desken brenner”. The comedians Tara Lina Shahin, Odd-Magnus Williamson, Amalie Stuve and Marius Thorkildsen make up “The Desk is Burning”. There they decided to encourage the public to vote for the mayor of Moskenes municipality. – First, the idea was to talk about the Vipps robbery, which has been a topical event recently. Then we thought it would be fun to do a Vipps robbery that goes to a good cause, says Williamson. Since the municipal finances of Moskenes have been a recurring theme in “Desken brenner”, it was natural to let the money go to them. – And then it turned out that the commitment was great, continued Williamson. NOK 2,505 was finally collected. “The desk is on fire” during the awards ceremony under the Norwegian Podcast Association. The money will go towards the planned sports day which will be organized later this week. – I thought it would be nice if the pupils could have a little extra fun now that the end of school is approaching. And the principal has given feedback that they really appreciated it, notes Sverdrup. Odd-Magnus Williamson is also very happy with the outcome. – It is very moving, and we hope that something good will come out of this case. This is just the start of a long series of other measures to be taken for Moskenes. The goal is for it to end up as a Live Aid song, he says with a twinkle in his eye. Odd-Magnus Williamson is one of the comedians in “The Desk is Burning”. We have spoken to the mayor afterwards, who says that she appreciated getting attention for this matter, even if it is a bit of an unfortunate situation to be in, adds Williamson. It feels undignified and strange. Get more from “The desk is burning” in news Radio: Published 10.06.2024, at 17.41 Updated 10.06.2024, at 18.06
