The book “Partiet – an insider’s account of the fall of the Labor Party” is based on conversations with 70 anonymous sources, written by Dagbladet journalists Steinar Suvatne and Jørgen Gilbrant. After the book came out, a number of people have pointed out errors in the book, and demanded apologies and corrections from the publisher. Debate on press ethics Journalist Lars Joakim Skarvøy has found several errors in the book, in episodes to which he himself is connected. He criticizes Gilbrant for never contacting him to find out if what is in the book is true. Now he demands an apology from the authors. – No, says Gilbrant in the studio, when he is asked if he can make an apology. Skarvøy has himself written a book on the same topic, and believes that it is not possible to put aside press ethics when writing a book. Correcting errors Gyldendal publishers said last Friday that they will correct the errors in the next edition of the book. – After dialogue with Gyldendal publishing house, they have informed me that they will correct a number of incorrect information about me in the newly published book, Partiet”, writes Skarvøy on his Facebook page. This is confirmed by Reidar Mide Solberg, publishing manager for non-fiction in Gyldendal to news. – Those of us who work with books know that mistakes can happen and it is important for us to handle this in a thorough and responsible manner. It is normal procedure to correct errors in new editions. In this case, Lars Joakim Skarvøy has made us aware of some errors and discrepancies and these will of course be corrected, he says.
