It is in a column in the British major newspaper The Guardian that Hegerberg airs his own thoughts on various topics. One of them is the match load to which the players in women’s football are exposed. “Sometimes the world of football still manages to shock me. I was shocked when I saw the international calendar for 2024, and I wasn’t the only one,” writes Hegerberg. She further points out that many players in recent years have participated in both the Tokyo Olympics (2021), the European Championships in 2022 and then the WC in 2023. In the summer, there are again the Olympics for some, even if Norway is not qualified for the Summer Games in Paris. “This year it’s the Olympics again for some teams, so seeing that a Fifa window has been added for matches in the middle of July was frustrating to say the least,” writes Hegeberg. “Many saw this summer as a summer of freedom, for body and soul.
