The Norwegian Institute of Public Health confirms that one new case of smallpox has been discovered in Oslo. The disease was formerly called monkeypox. – Oslo municipality has notified us according to normal routines about one case of mpox, says Preben Aavitsland at FHI to news. FHI is now supporting the municipality in handling the outbreak, which is of the “Clade llb” type. It was the type of virus that caused a major outbreak in Europe and North America in particular in 2022. In Norway, 109 cases have been detected from 2022 to now, Aavitsland informs.
