7 October 2023 at 18:19 UN: At least 320 lost their lives in earthquake in Afghanistan The death toll from the earthquakes that shook western Afghanistan on Saturday has risen to 320, the UN says. The first earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3 and had its epicenter 4 miles from the region’s largest city of Herat, according to US geologists at the USGS. Five aftershocks followed – measured at magnitudes between 4.7 and 6.3. (NTB)
