23 February 2023 at 14:01 Molano won the sprint on the fourth stage of the UAE tour Vegard Stake Laengen’s teammate Juan Sebastián Molano was the strongest at the end of the fourth stage of the UAE tour on Thursday. The field avoided crosswinds, and as expected there was a lot of sprinting on the flat, 174 kilometer long stage from Al Shindagha to Dubai Harbour. The sprint was very even, with three men crossing the finish line at approximately the same time. Nevertheless, the TV images showed that the Colombian was the fastest. Olav Kooij and Sam Welsford came in the next two places. Thus, Molano secured an important “home victory” for the UAE Team Emirates team. Belgian Remco Evenepoel took over the leader’s jersey in the race when he came in second place on Wednesday’s mountain finish. The 23-year-old kept the jersey on Thursday’s relatively quiet stage. Andreas Leknessund also impressed on Wednesday’s stage where he finished eighth fastest. The Norwegian is seventh best in the summary, 1.10 min. behind Evenepoel. Leknessund rode Thursday’s stage in the youth jersey, on loan from the leading Belgian. The last stage takes place on Sunday. (© NTB)
